Two Snow Days in a Row

We got slammed with snow, over 18 inches.  Yesterday I spent 4 hours outside shoveling my driveway in the morning.  I left about 3 feet right by my driveway because I hate it when you finish shoveling out only to have a snowplow drive by and fill it up again … and (bonus) with extra snow that now fits.  About five I looked out the window, saw it was dark and thought, “no, I don’t want to go back out there!”  But I had to, Lizzy had a dentist appointment the next morning and if I didn’t shovel that night I would not be able to chip the ice out in the morning.  So, I went outside and started shoveling.  I’d shoveled about a third of my driveway when I saw a buddled up figure walking down the street with a snow blower.  When he got closer I recognized my 65+ year old neighbor.  He didn’t say anything.  He just turned his snowblower towards my driveway and started plowing.  He spent an hour on my driveway.

I took him over some blueberry muffins today.

there is something about a snow like this one that brings out the best in neighbors. Maybe it's because they all know what is going on inside our houses :-) or maybe just mine...
