I assume he was speaking German and the translation for that is "I'm going to be in emotional agony until I see you again."

You missed the silent words... "I'm really going to miss [you, the time I could be spending with you, our meals together, the things we could be doing together while I'm gone, the kids, listening to you tell them repeatedly to do their jobs, the comfort that I am close to home should anything happen, my simple surroundings that feel like home and bring me joy (you) and misery (accumulated clutter of tasks undone), the proximity to everything familiar to me including maps and signs I can read in...] English"
